He is the only driver over 50 to have won an F1 race Germany and Spain staged an F1 Grand Prix for the first time in 1951 14 others races ran to F1 rules but did not count towards the 1951 Championship At the 1951 French GP at Reims, Fangio became the first driver to win a GP consecutively Juan Manuel Fangio went on to win his first World Title in 1951 and became the first Argentine champion in history
