MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez took his 64th career pole position at the Aragon Grand Prix on Saturday, equaling Jorge Lorenzo's record.
Marquez was more than half a second faster than Maverick Vinales at the MotorLand circuit in northeastern Spain. Lorenzo will be the other front-row starter on Sunday.
Valentino Rossi, who trails Marquez by 43 points in the championship, will start sixth. The Italian veteran has 63 career poles.
Eight different riders have won races after 13 races this season.
Dani Pedrosa, the winner in San Marino two weeks ago, crashed in qualifying at Aragon and will start seventh.
