Championship leader Marc Marquez claimed pole position in qualifying for the Czech Grand Prix on Saturday.
The Honda rider captured his fifth pole of the season and 35th of his MotoGP career after setting a track record at the 5.403-kilometre Brno circuit in 1 minute, 54.596 seconds.
The 2013 and 2014 champion seemed fully recovered from a left-shoulder injury -- after crashing in practice for last weekend's Austrian GP -- to lead defending MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo on a Yamaha by 0.253 seconds.
Andrea Iannone finished third, 0.631 back.
Marquez leads with 181 points, 43 clear of Lorenzo. Another Yamaha rider, Valentino Rossi, is 14 points further back in third.
