Four drivers will serve a grid-penalty penalty ahead of Sunday’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Kamui Kobayashi will drop five places for the penalty handed to him for causing a collision at the preceding European GP while Jean-Eric Vergne was handed a ten-place drop for the same reason in an unrelated incident at Valencia.
The Sauber driver had qualified 12th and will now start 17th while the Frenchman’s Toro Rosso, which had posted the 17th quickest time on Saturday, will line up 23rd.
“For the race I don’t really care whether it’s wet or dry. I’ll be starting a long way down the grid and will fight as hard as I can,” Kobayashi said.
Vergne’s position was fractionally helped with Charles Pic’s penalty after the Marussia driver too serves a five-place drop for changing the gearbox in his car.
Nico Hulkenberg, who had qualified ninth, too changed his gearbox in his Force India and will start 14th as a result.
