He may be the son of former world champion Keke Rosberg, but this German driver wouldn’t want to give up his racing gloves without making a name for himself in Formula 1.Now with Mercedes, Rosberg burst into the scene with a points-on-debut performance in 2006 with Williams, a team which he remained with for four years.Plagued with underpar cars to the frontrunners, Rosberg could achieve very little with Williams, which had been on a downhill since 2004, although the German shone whenever he could. And this is what convinced Mercedes to sign him up in 2010 to partner Michael Schumacher. Unfazed by the seven-time world champion’s record, Rosberg came of age racing in the three seasons with the veteran. However, his strong results in an uncompetitive car were overshadowed by Schumacher’s inability to get the team going. It was even more unfair particularly when he was the one who gave the brand new Silver Arrows its first win at the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix. Now teamed up with old buddy Lewis Hamilton – the pair raced each other during their karting days – Rosberg is now the established driver in the team. And if he was not hindered by a seven-time world champion, Hamilton’s sole title would make things a lot easier for Rosberg.
