Sochi is the scene where Formula One attempts to attract an important market as the sport continues to expand in new territories.
The Sochi International Street Circuit, located in the Black Sea resort and coastal town of Sochi, where the Winter Olympics were held in 2014, winds around the venue where the Games were hosted.
At nearly six kilometres, it's the third longest circuit in F1 after Spa-Francorchamps and the current iteration of Silverstone.
With a multi-year contract in place, and backed by president Vladimir Putin himself, Russia's presence on the F1 calendar holds strong.
